About Strictly Global

Strictly Global is an  independent, non-profit, international music video program produced by non-commercial educational broadcaster MHz Networks (operated by Commonwealth Public Broadcasting Corporation). Strictly Global brings artists from all parts of the globe to U.S. audiences. Shot at The State Theatre in Falls Church, VA. Strictly Global airs each Friday night in primetime at 9pm and 10pm ET on MHz Worldview, the national channel of MHz Networks.

Strictly Global is a place for all music genres crossing borders to converge. We focus on music coming into the United States: acts that are making their push into the American music scene. Some of these artists hit big, like MIA or Lady Sovereign, but some are never heard from again. We bring viewers stadium packing superstars from around the world that can’t get airplay, let alone fill a club in the States. We bring great American acts that languish in obscurity in the U.S., but are topping charts abroad. When we say global, we mean every place on the planet and that variety and spice is what makes the show so much fun. Viewers are able to sample new music from superstars across the planet and indie stars from our own backyard.

About The State Theatre
Built in 1936, The State Theatre was a popular movie house until the late 80's. The first film shown was Thanks A Million. The first theatre on the east coast to be centrally air-conditioned, The State was the flagship of family-owned Neighborhood Theatres. Late in 1988, the projection bulb dimmed and State closed its doors after the final showing of Die Hard. A multi-million dollar restoration in the late 1990's transformed it into the Washington Metro area's favorite new venue for live music and private events.

Hosts

Danni Rosner

Born in DC and raised in Tokyo, Japan, Danni first appeared as an artist on Strictly Global’s Nextwave.  A singer and songwriter- she’s been on the stage since she was three.  Her organic-pop musical style is garnered from international roots & inspiration, including a stint as a traveling blues singer and TV reporter in Italy. Clearly, she's got a passion for music; and its shared equally on camera and in her songs! Check out her music at www.myspace.com/dannirosner.

Dawn Reed

Originally from Misawa, Japan, Dawn is quite the globetrotter.  After being raised in Greece, Turkey, England, and California, she settled into D.C. where she avidly attends live concerts of genres ranging from shoegaze to Nintendo-core.  In her spare time, she directs music videos and performs as the video artist for D.C. based experimental band Ghost Light.

Harry L. Martin

Born and raised in the nation's capital, Harry has been a late night purveyor of the DC rock scene from an inappropriately early age. He is a former drummer, sub-par guitar hack, and an open minded connoisseur of a wide variety of musical genres past and present (but mostly past).  Being a DC lifer, Harry is also a lover of Go-Go music.  Harry's recent travels have taken him to France, England, Germany, Italy, Amsterdam, Austria, and the Czech Republic.

In west Philadelphia born and raised on the playground was where I spent most of my days. Chillin out maxin relaxin all cool, and all shootin some b-ball outside of the school. When a couple of guys who were up to no good, started makin trouble in my neighborhood. I got in one lil fight and my mom got scared. She said your movin with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air.
